Pros: Delicious air-popped popcorn, almost every time
Cons: Wastes kernels when it (infrequently) won't pop popcorn
The Bottom Line: Popper is very easy to use and clean; we've had very few problems with it.

| skspillman's Full Review: Salton PC2 Popcorn Maker |
My husband gave me our Salton popcorn popper as a holiday gift last year, and we've used it many times since then. Air-popped popcorn is healthier and (I think) better-tasting than microwave popcorn, plus we can adjust the amount we pop to fit our needs rather than popping one or two bags of microwave popcorn (often throwing some of it away).
The Salton popper is quite easy to use; simply place 1/4- to 1/2-cup of kernels into the popper (we've found that yellow popcorn yields more than white popcorn), attach clear plastic top to base, and plug in. The popper usually yields a large bowl of popped popcorn and only leaves a few, if any, kernels unpopped. We've never experienced a problem with burnt popcorn or with the hot air from the popper melting a plastic bowl (which is a warning in the owners' manual).
On a few occasions (fewer than five), we have experienced the popper not popping any of the kernels; hot air is pushed out of the plastic top and the metal bowl inside the popper spins, but none of the kernels pop. However, we think this has been a problem with our kernels rather than the popper itself; usually when we throw the unpopped kernels away and try again, it will work (we often have two bags of kernels on hand).
One feature that isn't included on our Salton that we remember from popcorn poppers our parents had when we were children is a metal tray on top of the plastic top to melt butter; however, we don't miss it too much as popcorn without butter is healthier (of course we often melt butter in the microwave while the popcorn is popping...) Overall, we've been pleased with the Salton popper; it is easy to operate and clean (just wipe with a damp cloth) and provides delicious popcorn nearly every time we use it.
