Bump onto the floor that is! This bed rail has been so great for us. When my daughter was ready to get out of her crib, I knew we had to have something to keep her from falling out of a regular bed at night. When she sleeps, she moves all over the place.
I liked this bed rail because it would be easy to use and would great for trips. Plus it is a little higher up on the side than other rails and I wanted that extra height. Some of the other bed rails rise up 14" above the bed- this rail is 15" higher. I know that might not seem like much but our mattress is higher than most twin size.
We've been using it now for 2 months and have had no problems with it. My daughter has rolled right into in and it hasn't moved an inch. The mesh sides seem to be very sturdy- she has kicked and pushed at them and there hasn't been any damage to it.
It is very easy to assemble also. When you take it out of the box, you have to expand it to its full length. This is the only awkward part of using this rail. You have to first unlock the locking pins on the top and bottom to expand it. Once you have done that, you have to pull each area until it expands its full length and the locking pins relock in their new position.
After that all you have to do is swing the arms out and push the arms under the mattress. The arms do have a locking feature also that can be unlocked so that you can swing down the rail to make the bed or if you are like me- have to lay down with your child to get her to sleep.
For traveling you simply have to redo the locking pins on the rail to make it smaller and fold the arms up.
The rail is designed for children 22 to 50 lbs. It is also not for use on youth beds, bunk beds, cribs, beds without a box springs or waterbeds. We do use ours on a waterbed but ours is a softside that does have a boxspring.
I bought this for under $20 and it is worth every dime of that.
