Pros: Beautiful display, nice design, helpful tech support
Cons: An inherent design flaw which makes for essentially no effective battery life.
The Bottom Line: Bad design......not a good buy unless you plan on parking it on a desk.

| washingtoncpl's Full Review: Sony VAIO FX215 PC Notebook |
Though I have been a loyal consumer of Sony products for years, knowing that they have well made electronic goods, generally more reliable than most, with the purchase of my VAIO I was surprised that they had created a computer with an effective battery life of around 20 minutes. As someone new to the world of laptops, I thought at first, "Hmmmm, this seems a little short. But there is a slot for a second battery, and I don't mind shilling out the extra $249 for the security of having an extra." Well, when my head cleared from the fall off the back of the turnip truck, I decided to call tech support at Sony. Seems they have been having that happen to everyone who bought one of these models (both the PCG-FX210 and the FX215). So often in fact that they will send a free back-up battery to anyone who requests it. Well, that still only allows for a "whopping" 40 minutes away from an outlet....maximum. So, I guess there really is no way anyone could recommend a laptop which has none of the advantages OF a laptop (ie. portable computing), but carries with it all of the disadvantages (ie. smaller screen, slower processor, etc.). Thanks Sony, for trying your best to fix the problem with an after-market solution, but a little pre-market testing might have saved a few headaches for your (formally) loyal consumers.
