Pros: Nice price, rich sound, good brand.
Cons: Incomplete drivers for Windows 2000.
The Bottom Line: Anything but Win2K - go for it. Win2K - be cautious until more drivers come out.

| br284's Full Review: Philips Seismic Edge Sound Card |
I purchased the Philips Seismic Edge from Best Buy when I saw that it was a 4 channel sound card costing only $40 dollars. Traditionally, I have only purchased Creative sound boards, but I thought I would go out on a limb and give this company a try.
Compared to a standard two channel sound board, it is an excellent piece of equipment. I've not done much with the integrated Yamaha technology, but the sound in games and MP3's have been quite full and rich.
The gripe that I have with this card is that while it is a 4 channel sound card, I can only use two. The Windows 2000 driver does not support 4 channels, though I suspect that it will eventually. 4 channels are supported with every other Windows operating system. I was hoping to use this card with my Cambridge Soundworks 4 speaker system, but I'm still waiting. I checked up on Philip's consumer electronic website about this, but I cannot find any driver updates, nor people to contact. So, the details and ratings as I have made them are as a 2 channel card rather than a 4 channel card. I'll update this if the driver situation changes.
