Rusk's Thickening/Texturizing Cream isn't all that Radical. It's just OK.

Product Rating:
Pros: Thickens some, texturizes some, no residue or stickiness, concentrated
Cons: Makes my hair feel waxy, doesn't add a LOT of texture and volume
The Bottom Line: Rusk Radical Creme Thickening/Texturizing Creme is decent. It adds texture and volume but not a RADICAL amount. Makes my hair feel waxy though.

My sister asked me to pick her up a tube of Wired by Rusk and, while doing do, I got myself some Rusk Radical Creme Thickening/Texturizing Creme. It was fairly pricey at $11.99 but my sister swears by the brand and I figured it had to be good.
This thickening and texturizing cream is decent but it makes my hair feel kind of weird and I don't see major results.
About the Product Rusk Radical Creme thickens and texturizes hair as its concentrated moisturizers work to improve and correct dry or damaged hair. Gives hair a lived-in, natural appearance with unbelievable thickness, incredible definition and attitude.

This cream comes in a four ounce tube and is quite thick and white. It has a pleasant scent but nothing too strong. It isn't greasy at all and it seems a small amount is all that is needed.
My Experience
I have long straight hair that is layered and often sits very flat. I don't mind that most of the time but sometimes I want some oomph and body. That's when I turn to the volumnizers and texturizers in my bathroom cabinet.
Last week, after buying Rusk Radical Creme Thickening/Texturizing Creme, I decided to give it a try. I washed and conditioned my hair as usual and then I applied a small amount of the thick cream to my hair. Not knowing how much I needed, I erred on the side of caution and only used about two pea sized dollops for my below the bra strap length hair.
The cream is lightweight (although thick) and didn't seem greasy at all. I applied the cream to my whole head then combed it through and went on to blow dry my hair.
I did notice that my hair seemed somewhat thicker and that it was more texturized when I was done blow drying but I also noticed that my hair felt a little waxy. It didn't LOOK waxy and there was no residue on my hair but it felt weird to the touch.
I could easily brush through it and style my hair but I only saw a little added volume and a little texture. I think I would have seen better results had I not been going for a softly waved style. Rusk Radical Creme Thickening/Texturizing Creme is better when you want a touseled bed head-type look.
I could back comb my hair of flip my head upside down and the volume would be instantly amped up so Rusk WAS doing its job. I just was putting a damper on it by trying to style my hair in a more formal way.
I used the Thickening and Texture Creme again and didn't go for a style. I mostly air dried my hair and finger combed through it. That gave my hair a piecey, textured look with more body than usual. But I felt like my hair looked messy and undone even though that is exactly how it was supposed to look.
In all, I will use Rusk Radical Creme Thickening/Texturizing Creme and experiment with different ways to style my hair using it. I prefer Jonathan Salon Product Mini Dirt Texturizing Paste's results but Rusk's product is cheaper and not as dirty feeling in my hair.
It washes out well and easily with my usual shampoo and doesn't flake or leave a residue on my hair.
Buying Info
Rusk Radical Creme Thickening/Texturizing Creme is supposed to be available only at salons but I got mine at a store in the mall. The price was $11.99 for the four ounce tube which I thought was a bit pricey but you really don't need much to get results.
Conclusion
I'm on the fence about this product. I like that it isn't sticky or as "dirty" looking as other texturizers but I don't like the feel of my hair when I use it. It's waxy. But it doesn't LOOK that way. I think those who like natural windblown or tousled hair may like this product a lot. I like it but it isn't my favorite so I will give it 3 stars. I do recommend it though because it does add some volume and it does add texture just not a huge amount which may be just what you're looking for.
