| claire8346's Full Review: Roly Polys Rolled Sandwiches |
My introduction to Roly Poly came via a menu faxed into our small Westport, CT office. Never before had a I seen such a variety of tortilla wrap sandwiches -- Santa Fe Wrap, Chicken Curry Wrap, Ham & Cheese and many, many more. Apparently, this Roly Poly outfit was right down the street and if we ordered enough of these wraps, they'd deliver them to our door. Our receptionist put in the first call and 30 minutes later a bag of Roly Poly's was distributed among us worker bees.
Now I'll be the first to admit I love food but am PICKY PICKY PICKY. For instance, even though I like cheese, having it melted over any kind of sandwich kind of freaks me out due to all the fat. Same goes for mayonnaise. Hence, my order was a Santa Fe Chicken Roly Poly with NO cheese. Expecting a dryish sort of wrap that would taste okay and at least give me some protein, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the sandwich was tasty and juicy. The chicken was marinated just right with Mexican spices and was nestled in a generous helping of roasted peppers and onions (not oily ones!) on a super-tasty giant tortilla. In fact, I'd never tasted a tortilla as tasty as this and there was no butter or oil involved. Just lightly browned, crispy on the edges soft in the middle tortilla. I'd found a great sandwich that left me feeling good for the rest of the day.
As you can guess, I there were many, many more Roly Polys eaten after that. The French Twist (roasted vegetables and brie) was extremely popular among my co-workers) and I, occasionally straying from my Santa Fe Chicken, tried Thanksgiving Turkey and Delhi Chicken -- both of which were good and healthy. On the other hand, my boss liked the Porky's Nightmare -- roast pork, baked ham and cheddar. Which goes to show you there's something for everyone.
Roly Poly now has at least 50 franchises across the US and has sold 50 more to open soon. You'll usually find one in an upscale area in your town. Lucky for me, I just found one in the 38th street area of my town, Austin, Texas. Hooray!!!!

Notes, Tips or Menu Recommendations Roly Poly franchises are small and may have one or two tables. They are best suited for take-out.
