| maybabe's Full Review: Purina Beneful for Dogs |
Purina Beneful for Dogs caught my eye! With the colorful imprints; Of fresh meat and vegetables on the bag.
Each time I go grocery shopping; I always pass it by. Until one Saturday; Purina Beneful reeled me in.
I purchased a 4 lb. bag for 3.89 for my Doxie (Penelope) in hopes of giving her something special; A change of pace for a variety in taste.
Purina Beneful is available in 4 lb, 8 lb, 17.6 lb, and 35.2 lb bags. Comes in different varieties for puppies, adult, and over-weight dogs...
Small bite size morsels measuring about 1/2 inch; With assorted shapes and sizes; Square, round, clover, and bone shaped. Different chewy textures of moist and crunchy. A more detailed description down below.
Purina Claims: from website
Beneful® serves up a whole variety of superb formulas for the perfect balance of healthful ingredients, quality nutrition, and great taste. For your best friend, that means pure contentment.
Penelope's Experience was pick and choose. I gave her a 1/2 cup to see how happy she would be with a tasty variety. Well she picked out the green peas and laid them by her bowl,; then going back into the bowl; knocking the morsels around a bit; She came up with the bone shaped piece and began to crunch away...
As I kept watching; That's the only ones she was interested in. She kept picking out the "bone-shaped" and loving those...
Okay; I guess she'll get around to the other varieties later; Since it's something new..
No way! After a week passes by; Penelope is still picking out the same morsels "bone-shaped"...She will not eat any of the other different flavors.
The bone-shaped must have the marrow from a bone taste. Maybe it's what she's craving, because I never give her any type bones.
For me it was a waste of money. Just a pick and choose for my Doxie. After reading the ingredients; I feel I was misled by the luring package; Because Purina Beneful contains mostly fillers, salt, sugar, preservatives, dyes.
Their may be some good qualities in the food; but the bad out-weighs the good. From the list of ingredients; Ground yellow corn, gluten meal, chicken by-products, and other unknown stuff...
My Thoughts:
I'll go back to boiling my baby (Penelope) some chicken. This way she can have the best parts without the fatty skin and by-products; Or the hard to digest corn and fillers.
