| nghiemr's Full Review: Proactive Solution Revitalizing Toner |
In my previous review on the Proactiv Solution 3-Step skin care system, I discussed how I discovered these products, the benefits of using them, and in particular, the benefits of using the Renewing Cleanser (Step 1). As a follow up to that review, I will now discuss the benefits of following the Renewing Cleanser with the Revitalizing Toner (Step 2).
Ingredients, Scent, Etc
The Revitalizing Toner is liquid, with a pleasing light green color. It has a slight chemical smell that is common among toners, but a subtle soapy fragrance helps cover it up. Some recognizable ingredients include glycolic acid, aloe, chamomile extract, rose water, and witch hazel extract. Glycolic acid is one of the alpha hydroxy acids derived from fruits and vegetables that aid in the removal of dead skin from the surface of your face. Aloe and chamomile sooth the skin from any irritation that may occur from using the benzoyl peroxide-based Renewing Cleanser and Repairing Lotion. Rose water and witch hazel help tighten the skin and help control excess oil.
How to Use
After washing your face with the Renewing Cleanser, dry it off, then apply the Revitalizing Toner using a cotton ball. A little goes a long way in clearing up any residue that may have been left behind after the cleanser. You only need to apply it once, maybe twice. Many people mistake a clean white cotton ball for a clean face, but removing too much will actually strip your skin of the necessary layer it needs to protect itself from drying out. When you first start to use the Revitalizing Toner, you will experience some stinging, but this will fade over time. The toner may also leave your skin slightly sticky if you apply too much, and it will take a while to evaporate. Unlike the cleanser, which gets used up pretty quickly, the 4 oz. bottle of toner should last you several months.
The Results
Most toners are harsh and dry out my skin, so I tend to stay away from them. However, the Revitalizing Toner actually moisturizes, while minimizing pores. I have combination skin that tends to get oily in the T-zone (forehead, nose), and I’ve noticed that when I use the toner, it keeps the oil in that area under control. When I apply make-up after using the toner, fine lines appear minimized and the make-up goes on smoothly. The toner is also alcohol-free, so in addition to the soothing qualities of the aloe and chamomile, there is very little chance of this product drying out my skin. However, I try not to use the toner every day…just when my skin starts to look a little dull. The toner actually gives it a noticeable glow.
How To Purchase
As I mentioned in my first review, Proactiv is currently only sold through the mail and shipped out of Iowa. As a member, you get the 3-Step system shipped to your home every 60 days, for a little less than $50 per shipment, including tax and shipping. If you’re not a member, prices are slightly higher. You can also purchase the products separately. There are also other products you can purchase from Proactiv, including make-up, shampoo, and various facial products. To order, call (800) 950-4695, or order online at www.proactiv.com. I truly believe in these products and would recommend it to any one who asks for advice on their problem skin. If you’re serious about clearing up your skin, give Proactiv a try. They even have a 60-day money back guarantee, which I discussed in detail in my first review.
