I have used Proactive on and off for 10 years. It was the best thing without a Rx. I am 42 y.o. and have adult acne. Proactive keeps in "under control," yet I always have at least one blemish and I still get an occasional giant, under-the-skin, painful zit. When I first began using it, I carefully read and followed all the direction for about 3 months. I found the cleanser and the mask were actually making my face break out more, so I had to eliminate these two steps. Over time, I was only using the repairing lotion, because this seemed to work best for me. The cleanser is very gritty and does not produce a lather which takes getting used to since I always associated cleanser with suds. I really didn't mind the texture, it just didn't work and caused my condition to worsen. The mask just did nothing for me and seemed to make my condition worse also. Recently, 2 1/2 months ago, I found something better - AcneFree. It works great for me (read my review-Eureka.) I know we all have different skin and am happy for those of you who find that Proactive works, but for those of you who are still searching for something better, give AcneFree a try.
