| Annie_Crane's Full Review: Pertussin DM Adult Cough Suppressant |
A product you can use without all of the deadly side effects. Problem is, can you really stand the taste? Why is it that companies claim to have a great tasting grape or cherry flavor when all that is really happening is that they are trying to cover up their hideous medicine taste by adding artificial flavors that do not even come close to the original?
Ok, so it tastes bad. But what really does matter is your health, safety and the fact that you probably will not come down with a life-threatening side effect just from the ingredients.
So what over the counter medication am I referring to? It is Pertussin DM Adult Cough Suppressant, a liquid cough suppressant that actually does work and without all of the horrible side effects. And it just keeps getting better. This happens to be an inexpensive solution to a nasty, annoying cough.
Pertussin Has one active ingredient, Dextromethorphan, a psychoactive drug commonly found in, guess what, cough syrups. Through researching the Internet I have been unable to find any deadly side effects. The worst side effect happens to be nausea, vomiting, and or stomach pain.
And although Pertussin claims that there are no side effects associated with drowsiness, the 4% alcohol included in a 4 ounce bottle can indeed cause some sleepiness. The adverse reaction can be restlessness or nervousness, which may actually hinder your rest.
Actually fact is I have Asthma and from time to time during the winter months I come down with Asthmatic Bronchitis. My chest literally feels like it is burning with the pain and the cough just creates more agony. Between the steroid inhalers that have been prescribed by my physician, it has been advised that I use Pertussin. It is also recommended that since Pertussin helps loosen the congestion and phlegm trapped in your lungs, that sitting inside a steaming bathroom will speed the process up even faster.
Possibly you are unaware of this, but when you develop a cough due to a cold, adding more fluids to your diet will also help relieve the symptoms. Also, if a cough persists for longer than two weeks, you should consult your doctor. If you are treating a cough for that length of time and it subsides, but returns or worsens then that could be a sign of a more serious condition.
I have had coughs last for more than a month. However, that was when I smoked. It is not recommended that you treat a smoker's cough the same as you treat a common cold cough. The reactions are not the same and although the symptoms may be similar, the cause of cough is not viral. For your own health and a longer life I highly recommend that you find a way to stop smoking.
If you need advice with that, I have met a wonderful writer on here that gives excellent advice on how she has quit. 'adnetjm'

I hope you will find one of these useful and inspirational.
I apologize. I know that I strayed way off the topic of Pertussin DM Adult Cough Suppressant but there are so many out there who have no idea that the cough due to smoking is more dangerous than the cough due to a cold. And they should not be treated the same way. Also, for those who smoke but are considering quitting, there are many members on here who can offer some great advice and we are willing to lend an 'ear' to help you through this difficult time!
