| countrygyrl's Full Review: Pantene Relaxed & Natural Conditioner Color Radian... |
I have been a long time fan of Pantene conditioners and have just about used them all. Pantene Relaxed and Natural Color Radiance is by far my favorite Pantene conditioner.
Pantene Relaxed and Natural line is, according to Pantene, formulated for women of color since they have special hair care needs. I will agree they do have different hair care needs but there is nothing in this conditioner that makes it "only" or "special" for women of color. It is just a great drugstore conditioner for dry and/or coarse hair period.
Pantene Relaxed and Natural conditioner comes in the classic Pantene stands-on-its-lid, flip -top plastic bottle that is wider at the base and sort of tapers at the top. It is a bronze colored bottle with dark purple accents. Relaxed and Natural conditioner only comes in one size- 13.5 oz. and it retails for $3.84 at Walmart. Walmart is the cheapest I have found it and I have seen it cost up to $5.00 or more at drugstores.
Also I can always find it at Walmart- some places don't carry this Pantene line at all (drugstore.com) and in Giant grocery stores it is with the ethnic hair care products instead of the regular Pantene line up.
A few years ago I did find it in the larger 25.4 oz. size before Pantene re-did its packaging but I cannot find it anywhere in the larger size anymore. I also used to see and use Relaxed and Natural Intense Moisturizing conditioner along with the Color Radiance but I have no longer seen that either.
The conditioner itself has the same "base" formula as the regular Pantene line up- namely silicones, panthenol and various fatty acids like cetyl and stearyl alcohol, which is not alcohol per say, just thickeners and conditioning agents. However this conditioner also contains coconut and jojoba oils which bump up the moisturizing properties.
Pantene Relaxed and Natural Conditioner Color Radiance is thick and white- like other Pantene conditioners, but it feels slightly thicker and richer. It also has the trademark Pantene scent but its slightly different, not quite as "crisp" its more herbal I guess you could say.
Pantene Relaxed and Natural conditioner coats hair thickly and evenly. For being a heavier conditioner its very easy to work into hair and it will not run or drip.
It also washes out easily and clean. My hair tends to feel a little heavy after rinsing but it does feel "coated" or like there is any build up.
After blowdrying or airdrying my hair is very, very soft, very shiny and feels 100% moisturized. I have long colortreated hair that is normal in thickness but dry/damaged and I feel it is coarse and fragile.
I do not think this would be good for those who have thinner hair even if it is dry. The plant oils and silicones in this would probably leave thinner hair feeling greasy instead of soft.
This is the conditioner I always go back to when my hair needs extra help. This probably could (and should) be my everyday permanent conditioner but I tend to be fickle and like to try new things. When I go and ruin my hair with something else I can always rely on Pantene Relaxed and Natural Color Radiance to get it back in shape. This is also a great conditioner for those days you use a "deep cleaning" or clarifying shampoo to keep the moisture balance in your hair.
