I happen to like the Otter Crew brewing company. They are one of my favorite local micro-brewers, (I live in New England and Vermont isn't that far). I tried their IPA found it delicious.
These are handcrafted beers, made the old fashioned way. I don't care for heavy, dark, bitter or strong beers. This beer is generally considered strongly hopped or highly aromatic, something I have difficulty in identifying it with,(taste is subjective.) It is a pale amber color with simple, what I consider light flavor, and just plain good. It is light, crisp with a slight tang to it, just right.
I don't considered it to be a strong or spicy beer, just one that goes well with any meal, be it pizza or a light evening fare. All I know is, that I enjoy it very much. I usually order this beer at my favorite micro-brew tavern. I prefer my beer draft rather than canned or bottled whenever possible. There is something different, something clean and refreshing about draft beer when compared to bottled or canned. I have tried their Copper Ale as well, another beer which I also enjoy. Otter Creek is one of my favorite micro-breweries.
Well, the other day I was at my favorite little micro-brew tavern, "Yesterdays" in Newport, Rhode Island when I noticed they now offered a couple of "ORGANIC" micro-brews on tap.
I was discussing them with the bartender. The organic beers are marketed under their brand name "Wolavers" but they are subcontracted out to Otter Creek to brew. Since I like Organic and Otter Creek, I thought I'd try them. There are only 2 beers available at present, an IPA and a Brown ale, both of which are good. I happen to prefer the IPA.
The IPA is a pale amber color, crisp, light, slightly spicy with another underlying subtle flavor. I think it is from the malt. Delicious and ORGANIC too! It doesn't get much better than this. Both beers are brewed with organically grown hops and barley. The basic information I can obtain right now, is the farmers do not use any synthetic pesticides or petroleum based fertilizers.
Another fine beer brewed at Otter Crew.
Salute!
