| Tigerlily137's Full Review: Olay Moisturinse In Shower Body Lotion |
Im such a sucker when it comes to bath and beauty products, so when Olay came out with an in shower moisturizer after Id already tried the Bath and Body Works version, you know I had to try it and compare the two.
~~~~~~~~~Directions~~~~~~~~~~ (Taken from bottle)
1. Cleanse with body wash or bar soap as usual, then rinse.
2. Dispense product into hand and smooth onto wet skin. Start with a quarter size amount for each area of the body (adjust as needed).
3. Rinse.
4. Pat dry with towel.
For best results, use after cleansing with Olay Bar or Olay Body Wash.
~~~~~~~~What This Product Promises to Do~~~~~~~ (Taken from bottle)
Replace your ordinary lotion with a revolutionary rinse-off body lotion! Olay Moisturinse works with the humidity of your shower to reveal soft, smooth skin after 1 use. Daily use will improve hydration of dry skin in 5 days.
~~~~~~~~~~Packaging~~~~~~~~~~
Olay Moisturinse In Shower Body Lotion comes in a 8.4 oz aesthetically pleasing bottle with my favorite feature; a flip top lid at the bottom of the bottle. I like this packaging better than Bath and Body Works because there is no space in between the lid and bottle for water to hibernate in overnight and grow cold, only to splash on you the next day when you pick it up and open the lid! This product comes in 2 different formulas, Normal to Dry Skin and Extra Dry.
~~~~~~~~~Price~~~~~~~~~~~~
At $3.99 for 8.4 oz or $5.99 for 15 oz., this is a great deal! It sure beats $12.00 for the 8 oz Bath and Body Works offers!
~~~~~~~~~My Experience~~~~~~~~
When I pour the product in my hand the first thing I notice is the consistency is super thick. Its like trying to rub butter over my skin! It has a slightly flowery scent thats not too bad, very feminine, and it sticks to your skin well after you rinse it off. After drying off (rubbing, mind you
who has time to pat dry??) I inspect for the final verdict. My skin does feel soft, but its not quite as smooth as Bath and Body Works. The look of my skin, however, has much more sheen with Olay Moisturinse and it lasts for several hours, much to my delight. I like the fact that I can use this product on my face without a burning sensation, unlike Bath and Body Works, so this is a plus as well. The bottle warns of slippery surfaces in your bathtub, but I havent had a problem with that yet.
~~~~~~~~~~So
..Which Product Works Better?~~~~~~~~~~
Well, lets recap all the factors that I consider important in a moisturizing product and compare the two.
Packaging
Winner: Olay
Importance: 3 out of 10
Usually, packaging isnt that big of a deal, but in this case, the Bath and Body Works packaging is so annoying to be shocked with cold water in the midst of a warm shower that I had to give it three points of importance.
Scent
Winner: Bath and Body Works
Importance: 5 out of 10
With so many different options, you cant go wrong with Bath and Body Works. I only give this a rating of 5 because you can always get your scent from other products such as bath wash, body lotion, perfumes or body sprays.
Consistency
Winner: Bath and Body Works
Importance: 8 out of 10
Whats the point if the product doesnt spread well over your body?
Price
Winner: Olay
Importance: 8 out of 10
Cheap is great when youre on a budget, but its okay to spoil yourself every now and then.
Moisturizing Effect
Winner: Bath and Body Works
Importance: 10 out of 10
Isnt this what the product is for?
Skin Sheen
Winner: Olay
Importance: 9 out of 10
If your skin still looks ashy, then you still have to use lotion
doesnt that defeat the purpose?
Overall:
Bath and Body Works: 23 points
Olay 20 points
Its a close match, but overall Im much happier using the Bath and Body Works Skin Conditioning In Shower Moisturizer. Honestly, I dont think that either of these products are 0 perfected
I still have to use lotion with both of them for the full effect. Maybe if you use both of these products together youll get perfection! Hopefully, someone else with come out with a product that will completely eliminate lotion altogether. Until then, Ill keep looking.
