Suzer's Full Review: Newman's Own Organics Advanced Active or Senior Fo...
It's sometimes challenging to find a dry cat food that 1 cat will enjoy. Well I have 3 cats. They look different (one "big-boned" Siamese girl, one petite Himalayan female, one large black short haired male), and they all like something different (of course).
Whiski the little Himalayan likes dry cat food. I can only get her to have a bite or 2 of moist kitty food. The Siamese, Jazmine, is a total couch potato kitty, has some weight issues (I'm sure she'd say, look who's talking), and mostly enjoys moist food. She is such a foodie, she will eventually eat anything. Moosie wants his moist and yummy, or people food. I've always been told that moist is healthiest, but it can get costly, so I try to mix up dry and moist.
Today I was at Whole Foods trying to grab a quick bag of dog and cat food (I was completely out), and saw the Newman's Own Organics Cat food for Active or Senior cats. I love his popcorn, always loved Paul Newman (as a person, his acting, and those blue eyes), and love that a portion of the money from his products go to charity.
What's it look like?
This dry cat food is a pale tan color, and there are tiny morsels, easy for just about any cat to chew easily.
Packaging?
You'll recognize this cat food by the gray bag and photo of the Newmans on the front. I was hoping I could pull the package from both sides and it would open. Uh, no. . . found some scissors and opened it up. This comes in a 3 pound package or 4.75 pound package at $15.00/$19.00 respectively (prices may vary based on the website or brick/mortar store).
Good news!
The Newman Organic pet foods are produced without using any herbicides, pesticides or artificial fertilizers. They have no additives or preservatives. The chicken is human grade, it is all natural. It also has organic brown rice, has probiotics, Ester-C, a high level of anti-oxidants.
It is very easily digested, and that is important especially for my little cat, Whiski as she has issues with many cat foods.
So, what did the cats think?
They each gave me 4 paws-up on this food (okay, so then they fell down). I was astounded. They all ate it immediately. Moose generally glances at dry food, and if nothing better appears, he'll grudgingly eat it. He went for this food without hesitation and with a big smile on his face.
Where can you purchase?
Easiest of course is purchasing on-line at numerous pet websites, and it may be less expensive. It is also nice to have it delivered!
Otherwise, you can find at Whole Foods, pet stores, and even a Wal-mart not too far from me carries it.
Summing up
Other than the cost, I am extremely impressed by this cat food, and having my cats happy, says it all for me. I'm giving it the highest rating possible. I think this is a very high quality cat food.
