Update #2! I sold that truck, got another one, and put on a set of new Michelins. Another amazing performance, I have 55,000 miles on this set and have at least 8/16" of tread remaining. They still look great and continue to provide a smooth, stable ride and great stopping grip. These tires never cease to amaze me...
Update! 78,000 miles now, with plenty of tread depth left. These tires never cease to amaze me! At my last rotation, the store manager insisted on checking them out himself, and was very impressed...and not surprised. These tires are well-known for durability and great customer satisfaction. So enjoy my original review... Four years ago, when I purchased my new F-150, I drove it from the dealer to Discount Tires. I worked a swap, paid a little cash, and drove home on a nice set of these 245/70-16 tires. Best thing I ever did! It's been 55,000 miles, and they still have about half the tread left, and look good to boot. Most of my driving is in wet weather...hey, I live near Seattle! I have found that these tires deliver the best wet traction I've seen, and believe me, I get to see it a lot. Particularly, braking action in a little standing water is truly excellent. Dry handling is quite good, and the tires are quiet on the freeway. The tread design is not very aggressive, which does compromise off-road traction, but I knew that going in. In my few adventures on snowy roads, I've managed to get where I was going, but very, very carefully. If you spend more time in colder climates, or do venture off-road, I recommend the LTX A/T. For me, though, these have been fantastic tires. Better even than my last set of Goodyear Wrangler Aquatreds (which I really liked). One note...as with any tire with a relatively hard tread compound, getting started on a wet road with a pickup's light rear end can result in some wheelspin...just be gentle. They're worth it!
