gamermatt's Full Review: Metropolis Street Racer for Dreamcast
When I first got this game I was expecting to be amazed but I ended up being a bit let down.
The graphics are well done in this game and so is the time system. The only problem is that the game tends to get dark at certain times of the day. This is the first time I think a game has used the Internal Clock well. If it's 12:00 were you are and you race in Japan it will be dark outside, it is a cool idea.
The control is also well done. Press one Trigger to go and the other to brake. It works well and makes the game a bit easier than using other button configurations.
The sound is ok. Some of the stations they speak Japanese which is cool and there is static break up through the tunnels. Most of the songs though suck so I keep the volume down most of the time.
Now what is going to make me lower this game score is he EXTREME difficulty. It is a pain to work with. This game uses a system called Kudos. Every time you complete a race you are given a certain number of points depending on how well you preformed. Driving a little bit onto the sidewalk will deduct points. Even tapping a car just a little bit will make you lose points.
Another thing that upsets me is that you can only keep three cars at a time. It would be nice if you could keep as many as you want to since there are some very nice cars in this game.
I want to give this game a high score but can't do to the difficulty level.
I recommend this game to older racing fans who have the patience to complete it.
Also this is a Dreamcast Review I don't know why they have it in this section.
