We purchased our Ice2O at Dome Depot for $1970 (it was on sale). We had been eyeing this item for a while. When we purchased it we found out the truths that others were saying: The icemaker takes A LOT of room in the fridge compartment; the icemaker holds way too little ice; the water thru the door is not chilled.
We still loved the fridge despite its shortcomings. One problem that annoyed us was that the freezer handle kept coming off. After 2.5 months, the display went berzerk (displaying what I would call technician feedback data). It did this for about 5 minutes and then the display went out completely, the icemaker, interior light, and water would not work. Luckily, it was still keeping the food cold. A Maytag repairman came out and fixed it (bad circuit board). Less than a week later the icemaker quit. A couple of days later, the freezer handle broke off. All-in-all I would love this fridge if the quality were better. This is far from what I would like to see from Maytag.
The Good
*French door configuration with ice & water thru the door
*VERY accessible freezer + shelves with sliding trays
*Beverage storage in door keeps drinks c-o-l-d!
*Large drawer on fridge bottom is very convenient
The BAD:
Ice maker holds too little ice
Ice maker takes up too much space in fridge compartment
Water through the door is NOT chilled
Poor quality (especially from Maytag)
Bad circuit boards seem to be a common problem
If this fridge could give me the quality that I'd expect from Maytag, I would absolutely love it (in spite of its shortcomings). I would compromise because the nice features are that good...BUT with this kind of poor quality I wonder how much longer it will be before I am buying a new fridge - again. After spending $2000 on a fridge, I expect a little more quality than that that of a used appliance store. I am very disappointed in Maytag and probably will not purchase from them again unless something drastic changes.
