Some of my favorite eye makeup products are made by Revlon and L’oreal. Of the many eye shadows I own, L’oreal Wear Infinite Eye Shadow Duos get used more often than most. Wear Infinite also comes in quads and singles, but I’m partial to duos. All I really in an eye shadow palette is two colors, one to highlight and one to add depth to the crease. These are good quality shadows that are inexpensive, easy to apply and come in a decent variety of colors.
One thing that is lacking in this shadow is a lot of claims. If you turn over the package you won’t see a list of its qualities. There is nothing other than the name of the color and an ingredients list. Their website is notoriously lacking in information. There is only a sentence or two about most of their products at the site. They tell us that there are 10 duos available. It will take yet another trip-to drugstore.com- to see what colors they are:
Bronze Star
Satin Taupe
Classic Khakis
Mocha Buff
Rose Petals
Sterling
Forest
Tidal Waves
Berry Pinks
Silver Teal
One of the two duos I have is a color that is not listed above. It is part of the Bronze Exotique collection for Summer 2002. This collection includes makeup for the eyes, lips, cheeks and nails. It is described as a “new look of bronze infused with the heat of warm, earthy coppers.”
The most I have seen written about Wear Infinite is at ulta.com. They have the following information: ”Wear Infinite is a rich, smooth, and subtle shadow formulated to be crease and flake resistant throughout the day. No touch up's necessary”
Description
These duos come in a .08 size compact. It is gold in color and has a clear oval window on top to view the shadow. It can be a bit difficult to open because of the small tab you have to use. There is a good amount of each color. It will last a very long time even with daily use.
There are shades in both pearle and matte. Both of mine are pearle. One is Brazilian Bronze, the other Berry Pinks. The bronze has a bronze color (of course) and a gold highlighting shade. The pinks contain a dusty mauve shade and a lavender one.
The enclosed sponge tipped applicator is tapered on the ends. It’s very effective for using the shadow to line the eyes.
The texture of the shadow is very soft and velvety. It’s not at all chalky or too powdery. The color is creamy and clings well. The pearle tones have a soft sheen but are not too glittery. They glow without having a glaring shine to them. Blending it is very simple. It has enough color and weight to be noticeable, but not to smudge or look muddy. It’s neither too invisible nor too obvious.
As for the implication in the title that these shadows will wear for an infinite length of time, I do agree that they are long wearing. I’ve been wearing mine for over 15 hours and it hasn’t disappeared yet. However, there is some slight creasing after this much time has passed.
Final Thoughts
Overall I’m very satisfied with the application and the appearance of Wear Infinite. The price is good, too. While it varies from store to store, my newest one has $2.97 stamped on the top. I got it at Wal*Mart and this seems to be the normal price. Online I have seen it as much as $3.99. Finally, in the military exchange where I bought my first one, I paid just around $2.00, maybe a bit less.
I am a contact lens wearer and have no problems with flaking when wearing it. I also have no irritation even though they make no claims that I have seen of being hypo-allergenic. I can recommend it as a nice affordable shadow that is worth trying.
