| eddielakr's Full Review: Lian Li Industrial Co. PC-V2000BplusII eATX Full T... |
I purchased the lian li v2000 because I needed a good case for my computer that needed a larger space for watercooling.
The lian li v2000 is the largest of the lian li cases. It has is a full server (7 bays) that comes in either brushed black or aluminum. The outside is gorgeous and the quality is really top notch. The panels are thick aluminum, but because it's all aluminum, the case weighs practically nothing compared to cheaper steel cases. You get what you pay for because these cases are not cheap, I paid $269 online. You can tell the difference in quality, because if you run your fingers through any standard case, their are parts that are sharp or very rough. Everything in the lian li is clean, with rubber guards or trim.
The outside panels can come in different configurations on this case. There are options to have a full clear window, for those users who enjoy looking inside their case. The basic model is solid on one side, while the other side has a 120mm hole for fan output.
The case has perforated holes throughout, which is great because computers produce a lot of heat, and this will let the computer breathe easier.
The interior is very spacious. The case is basically divded into two sections, with the top giving you access to the motherboard and 7 drive bay slots. There is a partition underneath, in which you can install your hardrives and power supply.
This type of setup gives the users plenty of room for running cables, installing hardrive space, and 7 bays for cdroms, memory adapters, or what ever drives you want to install.
The bottom has 2 hardrive racks for up to 12 hardrives, with a built in fan blowing cool air on them for cooling the components.
This is one of the reasons that this makes a great server case, because many cases just lack the space for this amount of storage.
Make sure your cables are long enough, because many shorter cables will fall short when running them through a long case. The same goes for the power supply. My power supply is a ocz gamexstream 700 power supply and I needed to install an extra adapter, in order for the video card to get power, because the standard cable was too short.
The case is fairly quiet, but because of the perforated holes, fans tend to resonate a bit more than if the case is fully sealed. The rear of the case has the output for 120mm fan and 2 60mm fans which push the hot air out of the case. As stated earlier, the case also has a 120mm fan that pushes air through the side panel of the case. Along with the perforated holes, it gives the user a case that can really withstand the massive amount of heat that computers give off and keep the temps cool, which provides more stability to the computer.
The front of the case is standard, in the sense that it has the usb, firewire, headphone, and mic jacks. The problem I face is that it's too low and I wish like other lian li models, that they placed the jacks near the top of the case.
The bottom of the case is also perforated and has a really gorgeous caster wheel system. It doesn't have typical casters that can move the case in 360degrees. This one only moves front and back, but the siler all aluminum wheels are just aesthetically beautiful.
One side note, the case is flipped around. So normally the motherboard would bolt onto the right panel, this one is bolted onto the left panel. That means all your components are flipped around, which makes little difference, but just make sure you have enough room or cable space when routing wires.
The fans are also a bit loud for my taste, so I took all of them out and installed newer fans that are a bit quieter. I also installed a fan controller to lower the speed down at night.
I really couldn't ask for a better case. It's large with plenty of room for accessories, it's perforated for great heat dissipation, it's aesthetically beautiful and is very well built, and it has 2 partitions for seperate components.
Sure it could be cheaper, or have better fans, or a fan controller, but these are minor issues on such a great product.
