Pros: Major savings on batteries; Long charge life; Easy to use
Cons: Longish charge time
The Bottom Line: Given how much my kids love their Leapster, this is a must own. It's a major battery-saver and so easy to use that the kids can handle it themselves.

| megansmommi's Full Review: LeapFrog Leapster Recharging System |
I bought the Leapster for my 3 year old son and 6 year old daughter to keep them occupied on a long plane trip. Thankfully, I'd also noticed the Leapster Recharging Station at my local Target ($24.99) prior to investing in any AA batteries.
The recharging kit comes with a cool H-shaped rechargeable battery, a recharging stand, an AC adapter and a new back plate. It is important to use the new back plate, as the standard back plate will not fit back on the Leapster once you use the rechargeable battery.
To charge the Leapster, you just place it in the dock (plugged into the wall, naturally) and snap it into place. Make sure the green light goes on so you can be sure you have successfully docked the Leapster. Wait about three hours and the green light goes off to indicate a full charge. (I love this feature because my little guy can figure out when his toy is ready all on his own).
A full charge lasts about 10 hours -- which is usually 3 or 4 days of play. We recharge about twice a week - so if you translate that into non-rechargeable battery cost, it's more than worth the cost.
The recharging time is a little long when you consider that kids have such impatience, but we just snap it in overnight and it is refreshed and ready for the next day. All in all, a wonderful purchase.
