| SAEGOOSE's Full Review: Kyocera QCP 2760 Cell Phone |
I was an absolute greenhorn when I ventured into the Sprint store in the Westfarms Mall in West Hartford, CT. I knew two things: I wanted a cell phone, aaand I wanted it cheap. I got a great deal on my service plan and there was no qualms about that, but what phone to buy seemed like an overwhelming decision.
Looking around the store I saw phones in every shape and color imaginable. There were simple ones that didn't look much different that Alexander Graham Bell's grand invention, while others looked like something straight out of one of Salvador Dali's liquid landscapes. There were phones that dialed with the command of one's voice and others that looked like lost pieces from a child of the 80's Transformers collection.
After winnowing down two phones by the discriminants of price and necessary features, I was torn between two. A silver Samsung clamshell design that had the voice activated dialing feature and the slim, black Qualcomm 2760. The sales lady told me that the Qualcomm was a much better phone. Ok. I was sold.
As I drove home I wondered whether I should've bought the Samsung because it sure did look sweet. Today after using a variety of differnet cellular phones, I'm more than confident that I made the best decision. No phone including the $500 Star Tac sounds clearer that than the Qualcomm. In fact, each time I look at a cell phone, I see a little sticker on the phone (regardless of brand) that says that the digital components are made by Qualcomm. So if Qualcomm is the industry leader in components, why not buy their phones direct? Furthermore, qualcomm only makes cell phones. That's their business; that's their product. If other companies make VCRs, TV, Microwaves and cars, how much effort and money do you really think is devoted to the cell phone division. My phone is extremely rugged and has survived frat parties, being dropped on city sidewalks, and an accidental drop in a toilet (but that's a whole other drunken story). The lightweight and crystal clear Qualcomm 2760 is the only choice in cellular telecommunications.
