Pros: Gives you a great cup of cappuccino or espresso

The Bottom Line: I would find another product that will last longer.

| seahealth's Full Review: Krups Novo 2300 Espresso Machine |
When it works, it is great, but read on and you will find out this is not always the perfect machine. I still have mine, but would consider another machine in the future.
Not all of us are on this earth to make Starbuck's rich, which is why I invested in my own system so I could have my cappuccino and espresso without breaking the bank.
I love the POD system, never dealing with grinds. Just pop a pod in there and you have the right amount for a cup of cappuccino or espresso. A POD is pre-measured into a small circular shaped pouch and can be purchased from different places. The last place I bought them was from Starbuck's. Each one is pre-measured to give you the exact amount for 1 cup of espresso or cappuccino. This particular Krups model allows for you to either use grinds or pods. I honestly never used the grinds because the pods are so much more convenient and eliminates measuring and mess.
Here is how the Starbucks site describes the pods:
We've ground our spicy, rich Espresso Roast to the perfect espresso grind, measured and tamped it, and then packed it in a filter pouch. All that's left for you is inserting the pod in your espresso machine, pushing the right buttons, and tossing it when you're finished -a cinch. You'll get a perfect shot of espresso every time, in seconds.
They sell them for $4.95 for a box of 12 at starbucks.com
I like the automatic frother and steamer. This machine has great pressure and heating elements.
Cleaning is easy, just run some hot water through the tube where your milk goes through and that is about it, it basically cleans itself.
Problems: There is a gasket in the head of the machine that comes out just about every time I use mine. If you are not careful you could burn yourself trying to put it back in. I took it for repair, but that only temporarily fixed the problem. It is still happening. I called for a replacement part because the gasket has ripped, undoubtedly from having to put it back in where it belongs. I never received the replacement part. So I gave up.
Update: Believe it or not, now a year later, Krups has contacted me to sell me the part I ordered LAST SUMMER. They tried to charge it to my credit card and it didn't process because I don't use that card anymore. They actually sent me the replacement part. I agreed to buy it since mine was torn, however, I no longer drink anything with caffeine.
Another issue, you will have to use your shorter mugs with this machine because taller ones will not fit underneath.
Also the manual is very hard to understand because all you have is pictures and no descriptions of how to use this, but once you figure it out, it is fairly easy.
I am sure there is a better machine out there than this one.
