| Donnie013's Full Review: KitchenAid KEYS750LQ / KEYS750LT Electric Dryer |
I will assume that by now those who have read my reviews, know that just last year I had a house built and stocked it with all new appliances. Just before leaving New York, we had a HUGE garage sale and sold everything but the cat and dog (although we came close to that, too). (No, just kidding on the cat and dog)
Arriving in Florida, our builder told us it was time to chose our appliances. After much studying the different brands, we finally chose KitchenAid. I'm still not sorry.
While our dryer looks just like any other dryer, it's big enough inside to fit two pillows and the dog's bed - or perhaps just one large comforter. I mean, the inside of this thing is HUGE. The outside is the usual standard size, but the drum is tremendous.
First of all, like all other dryers, the controls are on the back panel.
The old Whirlpool I had in New York didn't have an interior drum light. My new KitchenAid has an interior drum light . While many people might not consider this important, how many times have you "lost" a sock somewhere only to find it on another day IN the dryer. Well, with the interior drum light, you can easily see if anything gets left behind.
The door of the dryer is extra wide which makes it so much easier when retrieving clothes. I don't feel like I'm going to get stuck if I have to reach in the back for something. The door gives you plenty of room. Not only is it extra wide, but it's bigger overall. I still haven't banged my head on the frame yet.
The Cycle Control Knob is located on the back panel on the left side. It let's you indicate which type of drying method you prefer. Obviously, heavy and bulk items, such as bedspreads, jeans, the dog's bed, and large loads require a longer drying time than the lighter fabrics used for blouses and knits and lingerie. You can "time" the loads from anywhere from 20 minutes to 70.
Also on this knob, is a feature called "The Quick Press" feature. This feature removes wrinkles from clothes that were hanging around in the closet a bit too long. All you have to do is set the Temperature selector to medium and the Cycle Knob to "Quick Press" and PRESTO!! Wrinkles are gone!
Now, if you don't have time to figure out what setting to use for whatever clothes you're drying, just use the "Sensor Dry Automatic" cycle. Turn the control knob to the star and press start. The right amount of heat is distributed throughout the drum while it spins tossing the clothes around. The "electronic dryness sensor" determines when the dampness is gone from the clothes, goes to automatic cool down and then turns off. Voila! Done!
This model also comes with the "Extra Care" feature which protects clothes from wrinkles should you not be able to get to unload the dryer immediately. This "Extra Care" features will turn on automatically and toss the clothes every few minutes for up to 45 minutes WITHOUT HEAT after the original heating cycle ends. That comes in so handy when I'm caught in the middle of vacuuming, giving the dog a bath (no, not in the washing machine) or just in the middle of writing a review on Epinions.
Another feature I like on this model is the "buzzer" that goes off when the drying cycles is finished. While it's true that MOST dryers have this feature, the KitchenAid model enables you to SHUT the buzzer off if you should want to do laundry at night and don't want the buzzer sounding off and waking up the family.
For the times when I've washed the bath mats and the dog's stuffed toys and the pillows (didn't know you wash and dry them), I toss them in the dryer and the Control Knob on AIR TUMBLE. The temperature control will have no effect on the drying cycles of Air Tumble. You can set the timed Air Control up to 50 minutes for rubber-backed bath mats. (I don't have to hang them over the fence anymore)
This particular dryer is great for towels. There is a knob you can turn that says "Towels". That will distribute extra heat when needed to dry and fluff the these little bulky terrycloth items.
You don't have to worry about lint clinging to any of your clothes after drying. It all goes up inside the lint filter which is located at the top of the dryer, just below the control panel. Just lift the lid and pull out the filter and wipe the lint off. It's that easy.
Actually, when you think of it, this whole dryer is that easy! It takes all the guess work out of drying your clothes, from the bedding to the jeans to the knits to the lingerie.
All you have to do is sit back and let KithenAid do the work for you.
This is really a NO-BRAIN machine! It's that easy to use.
