hvarmit's Full Review: Kashi Mountain Medley Granola 14 Oz
Kashi products tend to work themselves into my day to day life. I am a big fan of their various cereals, snacks, treats, or frozen foods. When Kashi brought out Mountain Medley Granola I sent off for a free sample off of their website, so I can "try before I buy", since it was rather pricey. I received the sample in a week, and I ate it dry. I loved it; I thought it was a perfect blend of ingredients and knew it would completely replace my other granola brands.
The following day, I bought a full size box of Kashi's Mountain Medley Granola at my local grocery store for about $5.00. I thought since the box was so small as compared to their other cereal-type products that this was rather pricey. But, as I went through the box, I realized that I was using about half as much of this per serving than I was when I used one of Kashi's other cereals, and I was just as full. So, even though it was a smaller box, I still got the same amount of servings in the end. So, the price didn't look so imposing after that since pretty much all of Kashi's products cost more than other leading brands (Post, Kellog's, etc) anyway.
A neat thing about this cereal box is that it is cut out in the front, so you can see the product inside (in it's sealed bag). It's neat to be able to see all the granola clusters, nits, fruits, and seeds before you commit to buying it.
Mountain Medley contains many small bits to make one big taste. The best bits, in my opinion, are the cranberries. They are dehydrated, but they are soft and chewy; quite tart but sweet as well. There are also raisins in this cereal, and the granola is great. It is chewy but not overly so. It's more of a soft granola but not so much where it will crumble until dust in your hands. I do prefer this as a dry snack, much like a trail mix...but I have had it in a little milk as well. It works quite well with milk. It doesn't really float at all (this is why I only use a little milk, mostly just to moisten it if anything) but it doesn't become really soggy either...which was somewhat expected (by me) because many of Kashi's products stay crispy or crunchy when they are supposed to.
Kashi products tend to be on the organic end of foods, and they are decidedly healthier than most leading brands of cereals. (It's frustrating when healthier products cost so much more than those that aren't as healthy). Here's a peak at the nutritional panel:

Kashi Mountain Medley is a good product whether you want to use it as a trial mix, a snack, or as a cereal in a bowl of milk. The granola mixed with the nuts and fruits combine to make a wonderful taste and texture, and I think anyone who likes these combos of ingredients...and anyone who likes Kashi products such as their trail mix bar...would love this product. You can find this located in the cereal aisle of your mass merchandiser or grocery store. I always find mine located in said aisle, next to the granola products near the rest of Kashi's cereal products.
