lirubis's Full Review: Jose Cuervo Black Medallion Tequila
Calling Cuervo Black a "super premium" tequila is like calling KFC "gourmet" food. Heck, it is not even a 100% agave product! I know...I know: just getting started and I am already flaming Cuervo again?
There is nothing new to this enhanced version of Cuervo especial, other than a lot of oak essence and softener added. The smell, the taste, it is so grossly artificial and brutal to any real tequila aficionado that it can turn the nose of the knowledgeable ones right on the spot.
In fact, it does NOT taste like agave at all. Just sweet oaky alcohol burn. My tongue got swollen much faster than I can say "caramba!". Buit I somehow got sucked into this wild beach party where the ONLY tequila being served was JCB.
I find it revealing to see many people liking this tequila, even going as far as calloing it "smooth" and delicious. My only advice to you people is: at least try to taste 100% agave products! Then you will LOVe tequila for what it really is supposed to TASTE like. Because JCB simply does not taste like tequila, not even a mediocre one...
Cuervo has much better offerings as of late, such as Tradicional, Maestro Tequilero, and the always much praised Reserva de la Familia...I suggest you look in that direction next time you think "tequila".
