| DaybreakL's Full Review: John Deere Lawn Tractor |
We purchased the LX255 Lawn Tractor about 3 years ago when we first started our landscaping business. Money was tight so we couldn't afford any of larger mowers. I felt for the money(around $3000 w/bagger) that this John Deere had the best features. Some of the features are; a heavy-duty cast iron front axel, hydrostatic trans., cruise, great 7-bushel bagger, and a 42" convertable deck.
The LX255 is thought of as a residential mower but it's 15hp Kohler full-pressure lubed engine can really take some abuse. We have used it as our main mower for about 2 years now, and logged about 600+ hard hours on it. I figured that the longest it would last since it was air-cooled, instead of liquid, and only 1 cylinder, would be about 1 season. Boy, was I surprised.
Believe me, we aren't to gentle with our equipment and all we've had to do to it is grease the fittings and change the oil, filters(fuel, air, & oil), and blades! Now we own a John Deere 4200 tractor as well, needless to say I'm a "John Deere Man" now! To sum my review up, if you want a reliable, economic residential or light-commercial mower, give the John Deere LX255 a try, you'll be pleased!
