Pros: Very crisp, clear, bright sound
Cons: Almost to high and bright depending on the music
The Bottom Line: Although the sound sometimes seems brighter and higher than it should sometimes, these speakers do more than your average 4x6 and won't let you down.

| macaddiict's Full Review: Infinity Kappa 462.3cfp Car Speaker |
Installation
Can you go wrong with a name like Infinity? Well, when I first installed these 4x6" plate speakers into my 1993 Chevrolet Blazer the sound I got wasn't near what I expected. The installation just wasn't meant to be; I had to melt the back portion of my instrument panel and glove box to fit these deeper-than-normal speakers into my factory grilles. I knew installation would be a little tricky because the Infinity web site said they wouldn't fit into my speaker cavities. I wouldn't recommend trying to "squeeze" these speakers in if it looks like it might be a tight fit - especially on a newer car where melting parts of the dash could damage some sort of expensive electronics.
My Equipment
I'm running these speakers off my Sony CDX-4000X head unit (which only puts out 19 watts RMS, 50 peak) paired with 6.5" Infinity Kappa 63.5i 3-ways in the rear doors. I didn't bother re-wiring or doing anything like that. Basically, I just wanted clean, crisp sound and I'm happy with the results. I was initially told to install bass blockers with these speakers (so that I could turn them up without bass distortion), but with 300hz bass blockers installed they sounded shrill and had an ear-piercing highness to them. Since these speakers have a 75hz cutoff built in, I wouldn't recommend any bass blockers unless you have a special reason to install them. However, bass blockers are inexpensive so it might pay off to try it either way and see which you prefer. The front and rear speakers make a great match, but you might find that you need a little more mid-range sound if you're picky about that sort of thing. Even with the volume all the way up, I haven't heard these little 4x6" speakers bottom out or sound bad, but at 19 watts RMS I know I'm not pushing them at all.
Considerations
If you will be mounting these speakers where they'll be pointed towards a glass surface you might consider different speakers with more mid-range sound. The highs bounce off the windshield and force you to adjust the treble almost all the way down. It really just depends on the style of music, but in general the sound is too high with the treble set to normal. I would totally recommend these speakers for door or other mounting positions where the sound wouldn't bounce off a glass surface immediately.
Final Word
Overall I am happy with my purchase, and other than the extreme brightness of the sound when installed near glass, I would totally recommend them to anyone wanting a nice 4x6.
