chaos8882's Full Review: Haier HDT18PA 17 in. Built-in Dishwasher
This dishwasher was a Christmas gift to me in 2006 and i was ever so excited to bring it into my apartment!
I didn't get to take it out of the box until a few days later. I noticed right away that the drain hose was going to be a pain (and it was). it came with a little u-shaped holder thing that didn't fit on my counter at all.
Once i had it set up and found a suitable solution for the ridiculous drain hose, i loaded some dishes and fired it up...

some whirring noises...
...
... all of the lights came on and it started beeping...
this was the first time i used it!
something was causing the inside to flood and set off the overflow switch.
I consulted the instruction manual...which is beyond useless. Like many cheaply-made Chinese products, the
included instruction manual is a poorly-written and brief pamphlet that i immediately cast aside.
I didn't have time to deal with repairing the thing after i got a new job and moved and what not.
So now, over a year later, i try to use it again and experience the same problems...furthermore no one in my area wants to work on the stupid thing.
After taking about 30 screws out, i managed to remove the cover to take a look inside. To my horror and irritation, the tubing on the inside that leads from the pump to supply the insides with water wasn't even hooked-up! After some swearing and bleeding knuckles (the back cover has really sharp edges) i reattached the tube...
Something is still leaking and causing the overflow switch to trigger...i have to set the machine on a phone book so the excess water drains out of the bottom instead of setting the switch off...the thing looks absurd in our kitchen but basically works...
I'm unimpressed. Other reviews I've read echo the same stuff: crumby craftsmanship, lack of useful instructions, horrible customer service. Its a pretty bad sign i think when repairmen don't want to work on the stupid things too...
