| yakkowarner's Full Review: Gourmet Coffee: Caf Sperl (Vienna) Coffee - Reg o... |
I bought this from my periodic shipments of Gevalia coffee. I started with 6 scoops of coffee. I put it in my electric round grinder and ground it to a medium consistency. Then I put it in my French press and leave it for 4 minutes before plunging. I use bottled water because my tap water is highly chlorinated. The package states “Café Sperl is one of Vienna’s cultural landmarks. When you are in this coffee house, you are on historic ground? So take your time? Here, actors rehearsed their lines and the operetta world practices in the café’s spotlight. The ceiling angels still dance as they did when Brahms hummed his melodies and artists drew inspiration for their paintings.” Not sure what this has to do with the flavor but that’s what you got on the box. Aroma The is a sweet, almost caramel like aroma. A tiny bit of brightness. Taste There is a sweetness on the tip of the tongue. A brightness (acid) on the side and cheeks of the mouth. A barely noticeable bitterness in the back of the mouth. It is very mild and pleasing. A very nice coffee. Aftertaste The after taste is a tiny bit of earthyness at the back of the mouth and brightness on the sides of the tongue and cheeks. Very pleasing and no off tastes. Summary I really like this coffee and I will order it again. It has everything a great cup of coffee needs. The only reason it didn’t score higher is because it’s not all that unique. Nothing wrong with that if that is what you want, and the price is acceptable. But it doesn’t wow me. A solid 4 for its score. © Common Loon Productions Thanks to Bruguru for adding a lot of these coffee's to the database for me.
