It's amazing how many disposable diaper products I'm suddenly reviewing. I realized that my futile attempts to toilet-train my 40-month-old son, Buster have become a battle of wills that I cannot win. I've decided to just take a step back and see what he will do on his own. However, facts are facts, and Buster is a super-heavy wetter, which was what drove us out of our trusty cloth diapers to begin with. Nights are even worse, and after having Buster climb in bed with me in the morning soaked through his pajamas once too often, I decided to try out some of the GoodNites Disposable Underpants that my sister had given me after my nephew finally night-trained.
::: Super Pull-Ups :::
GoodNites Disposable Underpants are made by Kimberly-Clark, the same company that makes Huggies diapers and Pull-Ups. Designed for older children who are still having wetting problems, the GoodNites Disposable Underpants come in two sizes: Small/Medium for children 38-65 pounds (17-29 kg), and Large/Extra Large for children 60-125+ pounds (27-57+ kg). The underpants come in boy and girl versions, with an ATV pattern for boys and a butterfly pattern for girls.
The sides are stretchable, and the underpants are latex-free, with a special leak-guard to prevent accidents. GoodNites Disposable Underpants also boast a trim fit to be less obvious beneath clothing, and specialized "protection zones" for boys' and girls' different wetting patterns. A "back" label helps kids to make sure the underpants have the protection zones placed correctly.
::: No More Wet Sheets and PJs :::
The very first thing I noticed the first morning after we started using GoodNites Disposable Underpants was that Buster's sheets and pajamas were dry, an amazing feat! Long used to a wet child on top of me at 6:30 AM, or the sheer fun of a first-thing-in-the-morning diaper change complete with exploded diaper gel everywhere, this was a welcome occurrence.
Buster is a super-heavy wetter, known to leak out of disposables even during the day. While he is still a bit under the minimum weight for GoodNites Disposable Underpants at 35 pounds, the fit is still good enough to prevent leaks, and even his heavy wetting doesn't put that much of a dent in the absorbency of the underpants. Even first thing in the morning, the GoodNites Disposable Underpants have a much trimmer appearance than the soaked bowling-ball-between-the-legs look of traditional disposable diapers. The stretchy sides also make it easy for even little ones to take the underpants on and off without help.
The one caveat is that GoodNites Disposable Underpants lack the "breathability" that most parents are used to with disposable diapers. I'm always sure to put the GoodNites Disposable Underpants on Buster at the very last second before bed and change it the very first thing in the morning to prevent rashes.
Overall, I couldn't be happier with our new morning dryness, and Buster is happy with his "big boy Pull-Ups" with the "cool" ATV designs.
