Before I gave birth to our son, I was set against giving him a pacifier since I was planning on nursing him. But the hospital gave us a Gerber NUK brand pacifier and at first we didn't use it, but after we got home since he had a need to suck for comfort that we gave him the pacifier. The thing I like about the Gerber NUK is that it has never caused any nipple confusion for him.
He still uses his NUK daily, but not all the time since he has been more active. But he seems get some relief from sucking/chewing on his NUK since he has begun teething. And now that he is 4 months still using the Gerber NUK he has still been nursing great, with really no problems.
I am glad that the hospital where we delivered our son had the Gerber NUK brand since I've heard that it's one of the best and doesn't cause as much nipple confusion for nursing babies.
*Just updating here, our son is now almost 7 months old and is still using the Gerber nuk. Since I had written this we have bought many more nuk's and I just had to say that the colors that the pacifiers are coming out in are really cool, very bright and eye catching. The colors even make it easier to see where they have been dropped (or thrown LOL) by our son. And still no nipple confusion at all and that is just so great. I would recommend this pacifier to any new parent.
