Salton Made A Great Product With This One!

Well my George Foreman™ Grill died on me. But thanks to the extended warranty it was replaced with a new one. And what I got was the Salton® Family Size Plus Grill with Cookbook. Model Gr36BC. And boy I’m glad I got the better deal here. This one is a lot larger and will certainly hold more! And I am still a happy camper!
The Product
George Foreman Lean Mean Fat Reducing Grilling Machine™ made by Salton® is one of the best on the market. This family size plus grill suits my family’s needs with no problems.
Where I was able to put up to 6 burgers on the old one, I can now put up to 8. Larger steaks, and larger roast as well can fit better. And all cook to suit our needs. Which is “well done” in our household.
The unit is Teflon coated to protect it from the wrong utensils being used, and to make a more even cook for any type of foods. Meats and/or foods will not stick as easily either with the Teflon coating. Of course I will spray a cooking spray on mine to ensure no sticking.
This grill also tilts downward to allow all the fat from meats to drain better and there are the ridges across the top and bottom to allow for even cooking. There are also 2 drip pans that are larger, of course and they sit right underneath the bottom to catch all fat juices. The drip pans can be washed in the top of the dishwasher, but never the bottom.
Or you can clean them with warm soapy water.
There are also 2 plastic spatulas that came with the unit. Use these as much as possible to ensure you do not scratch the coating. But, I will use what I am use to and that is my old plastic spatula more times than I can count.
The lid will open wide, make the grill bigger where I can cook more at one time. But, watch for more steam to come from the unit when not using the cover. Or I can close the cover (top lid) for smaller amounts of food, which is what I do most of the time. Makes for less turning of food. I mean the idea is to cook foods on both sides at the same time when using.
Clean up is very easy. I usually wipe mine clean after each use with wet paper towels or a wet soft cloth. But when I forget I will do one of two things. I will heat the unit up and wipe clean or I will take to the sink and use warm soapy water. Heat up is a lot easier!
The unit is white in color and there is an indicator light that will go off when the unit is ready to cook on. There is no bun warmer though, but hey I don’t need one, I have a microwave that will do the same thing!
This unit will also cool down when it gets to hot. Which is good, because then the food will not burn. There is no on/off switch. I have to plug in and unplug. I wish there was a switch though, but that don’t stop me from using it!
Take Care Of Your New Grill
Before using I used warm soapy water to clean. Then I coated with a little bit of cooking oil to allow all foods to cook and not stick. This also protects the Teflon coating and will allow it to last longer. I also coated the drip pans with a little cooking oil after cleaning them with warm soapy water.
Never leave your grill unattended and watch those little hands when they are in the kitchen and you are cooking!
What You Get
The Model GR36CB comes with: 1 George Foreman™ lean Mean Fat Reducing Grilling Machine with cord, 2 drip pans, an owner’s manual, a recipe book and a register card. You can fill the card out and mail it in or you can go to www.salton-maxim.com and register your unit online.
The recipe book is so very helpful. There are so many things that you can cook on this grill. And of course you should read your warranty info, it is limited you know. 90-days after purchase!
The cord should be plugged into an 110v/120v AC outlet only. You should also be sure that enough air surrounds your unit when cooking. And remember it does get hot and will melt any plastics that you have near, so keep them away. And keep those little hands away.
It is recommended to not use outdoors, however, if you are going camping and will be under a shelter it is okay. That is what we do. Makes camping a lot easier that’s for sure!

How I Feel
Well I love this grill better than the old one because it’s bigger! I still cook my chicken, steaks, pork chops and hash browns. We also use it to make various deserts and cheese sandwiches.
It is so easy to use and clean up and I highly recommend it to anyone. They make great gifts to the new bride and groom, for your elderly parents, for the college student and for your church.
The cost is around $100.00 depending on where you buy it at. Some stores will be less and at holidays you will find them on sale. There are also various places online to buy one, so shop around for the best price! This one was a replacement, but in the stores, the same model sell around the $100.00 mention above. However, Wal Mart does sell them cheaper, around $90.00.
Now I have to admit that I will cook meat that has a little bone in it, but ever so carefully as not to scratch the Teflon. So be very careful if you are going to cook with any bone in the meat!
My children can use it and that’s cool too! Even hubby likes it! My parents have a very small one and they enjoy theirs. I bought my oldest one and she has used it for 2 years now with no problems.
I like having the extra space in this unit because I put a larger piece of steak on it and it will cook evenly through and through.
So if you are in the market for a grill, consider George’s by Salton™! They makes great stuff.
