| LILvoyce's Full Review: John Frieda Frizz Ease Secret Weapon Flawless Fini... |
I was shopping in my local drug store, when I came upon a bargain bin. I found these little tubes of John Frieda's Frizz-Ease Secret Weapon Flawless Finishing Creme on sale for under $2 in the 1.7oz silver plastic tube. I decided to pick one up in spite of the fact it said, "Step 5," right on the front of the bottle. I did not see steps one through four, so I was not sure how great this product would be without trying the other steps. I was skeptical but in a hurry. My daughter had asked me to pick something up for her hair to prevent frizz.
About my Daughter's Hair
My daughters hair is extra long and lightly damaged from blow drying. Her hair is extremely thick with split ends that appear even after having her hair trimmed. Her hair is shiny where her new growth is, and halfway down the length of her hair. Her hair starts to have split ends due to lightening it a few years ago. I would consider her hair to be a combination of healthy and non-healthy sections.
Her Problem with Hair Products
She runs into a problem when finding products that will help her tame her frizz. Either the products are to heavy and leave her hair looking weighed down and lifeless, or has a very greasy feel to it after applying a product. She claims that her hair does not feel clean after adding all of these products to her hair. Sometimes the products she uses will tend to work for a few hours then her hair tends to frizz throughout the day, by the time she gets home from school her hair looks like a puff ball.
My Hair
I would say that my hair is fine, but I have lots of it. It is a bit longer than shoulder length and is cut in different lengths. It tends to be combination as well. Normally my hair is on the oily side. I do tend to perm my hair, and this sort of offsets the oily hair. I can almost get away without having to use conditioner when I wash my hair. I tend to look for just a light conditioner. Sometimes, my hair tends to dry out on the ends. I don't have to much of a split end problem and I am able to comb my hair with ease after washing with or without the use of conditioner.
My Problem With Hair Products
I would prefer to condition my hair with some sort of leave-in that I can control where it goes. I don't always need a conditioner from roots to ends. I can most of the time get away with rubbing in a bit of leave in conditioner just on the ends of my hair. I don't like excessive amounts of conditioner. It makes my hair lifeless, and appear less full than what it really is. I like my hair to look natural and healthy.
How did John Frieda's Frizz-Ease Secret Weapon Flawless Finishing Creme Measure Up?
Well applying this product was easy. The Directions say to apply to Dry hair. Rub a small amount in your palm, and rub evenly through out hair. Now how hard is that??
Well, I prefer not to apply evenly through out the hair. I just touch up on the dry spots near the ends of my hair only. I found it to work great for this purpose. My hair was less dry looking and not weighed down or lifeless. I had a nice bounce and shine to my hair. Now all of my hair tended to blend in to a great looking natural style. I was able to get away with using less than a quarter size amount in my hair. I was pleased. My hair seemed more manageable and I had full day coverage.
My daughter found that she needed much, much more of this product to cover her hair. Her hair is extremely long. It is not as cost effective as I would prefer for her to use this product. She used over half a bottle of this product just in one sitting! The results were very nice. She was impressed initially with this product. She did not experience all day coverage. Over the course of the day her hair became frizzy once again. She claims that it was not as bad as some of the other products she had used in the past. Although she complained a bit, overall she was pleased with this product and would use it again. Before she used this product she had washed and used a good conditioner, and finished with the blow dryer. After all of these steps she then used the Frizz Ease.
Product Claims
This product claims to "Camouflage imperfections by smoothing away the dullness. puffiness, and frayed split ends....Replenishes oils lost to blow-drying; leaves hair ultra-glossy supple and healthy-looking."
Scent
The scent is barely there, but pleasing. It will not overpower any fragrances you may use.
Overall?
I would recommend this product. I give it an above average. It is not a wonder product, but it is a decent product at a decent price. It did make the dullness and puffiness appear to diminish. I would say that it left our hair looking healthy looking. I had a better experience with my type of hair, than my daughter did using this product. It reminds me of a hand cream for hair. It gives you a short term conditioned look and feel. It gives your hair a refreshing boost without the greasy feel.
