| katopasna's Full Review: Four Paws Wee Wee Housebreaking Pads |
Thanks to Four Paws Wee Wee Pads, I am no longer worried about house training my first dog in over 15 years. I was really nervous about getting a puppy, I had no idea what to do with them. My mother was the one who always trained our dogs while I was growing up so I, of course, was worried that I would do it wrong and I would have puddles of wee wee and piles of poop all over my house.
I guess I lucked out, the lady we bought our dog from had told me that this little bitty fluff ball was already paper trained at 8 weeks. I was praying she was telling the truth. She was! All we needed was some Four Paws Wee Wee Pads and some newspapers and “Shadow” took care of business. It seems he preferred to go wee wee on the pads and poop only on newspaper. Let me correct that, he would wee wee on ANY piece of paper on the floor.
We started putting the Four Paws Wee Wee Pads in about three different places around the house until he got used to the place. We now just keep one in the bathroom where he gets secured at night. I have heard stories where other dogs will not poop on these pads at all but I can say that Shadow has done it a few times, I think the reason was because we picked up all the newspapers around the house and that was only thing left.
About these pads
These pads look the hospital bed pads I got when I had my daughter. They have a blue plastic waterproof lining on the bottom to prevent leakage. They come in a bag of 7 and I paid about $2.99 for them. These pads are “scientifically” treated with something to attract your dogs to use them. I am thinking some other doggy hormone/pheromone. Why else would a dog automatically wee wee on a blue pad??
These pads are also easy to clean up, we just pick up and throw them away. We have a small dog so we get a few uses out of one pad before we have to toss them. The package says our pads are 23 x 24 inches but when I actually measured them myself they we 20x22 inches. Wonder what I am missing??
I don’t have the heart to put my dog in a cage but it is suggested on the package that these are ideal for lining dog cages or carriers. But if they are in a cage why waste the money on these, newspaper will work, it’s not like they have a choice.
Our future with these pads
I am thinking and hoping that I will only need one more pack of these pads. Shadow is getting house trained pretty quick. I notice there are some nights where he doesn’t even use the pad.
I also think these pads would come in handy when your gone for a full day and your dog can’t get outside. This could save your carpet and floors. The clean up alone makes it all worth it.
Recommendation
Yes, but only for small to medium size dogs. Unless you can find a bigger size, I don’t think they would handle a larger breed puppy. The Four Paws Wee Wee Pads, are an inexpensive way to help house train your dog. And if I can do it…..Anyone can do it!!!!
