serc's Full Review: Elizabeth Arden Good Night Sleep Cream 50ml/1.7oz
Going on vacation offered me an opportunity to use up some of the product samples I’ve been squirreling away in drawers for the past few months. One of the products that was waiting for my use was Elizabeth Arden’s Good Nights Sleep Restoring Cream. It’s a very nice moisturizing product that I have enjoyed trying.
Description
The sample tube that I have of this product is a cobalt blue tube with information printed on it in white. A white cap screws off to allow product dispensation. The retail product comes in a blue jar with a white cap; the color scheme is essentially the same, again with information printed in white.
The cream itself is a thick white substance; this isn’t the heaviest cream I have run into, but it is pretty thick. It does have a very noticeable scent. Elizabeth Arden’s online product page describes it as having notes of lavender and honeysuckle in it. I don’t smell the lavender at all, but I do smell the honeysuckle. I like it, but I don’t love it; I prefer the scents that Lancome gives to their skin care products to this. People with sensitivities to scent just need to be aware that this is a scented moisturizer.
Use and Experience
The directions for use on my sample tube read as follows: “Smooth onto face and throat at night, every night.” These directions do not point out that moisturizers should be applied to a clean face, but it is still true!
I have been using this at night before bed, as this is marketed as a night cream. I wash my face, use toner, and then apply this cream. It feels nice going on and absorbs quickly. I don’t find it oily, which I appreciate. I haven’t run into any problems with break-outs from using this on my still-oily-sometimes-even-though-I’m-37-now T-Zone. I do tend to use creams a bit more sparingly on those oilier areas, though.
I’ve had good results using this night cream. I wake up and my face is still smooth and hydrated. It doesn’t cause me to break out. Whether it is preventing wrinkles from forming, I can’t be sure. Overall, I think this is a nicely scented moisturizing product formulated for night wear, but I don’t think it’s spectacular. I like it a lot, but I just don’t love it.
Cost and Where to Buy
You can buy Elizabeth Arden products online at www.elizabetharden.com, or look for an Elizabeth Arden counter in a department store. The Good Night’s Sleep Restoring Cream retails for $38.00 for a 1.7 ounce (50 mL) jar.
I usually like to include an ingredients list, but my sample does not offer one. People with sensitivities to particular ingredients should consult with an Elizabeth Arden salesperson. Elizabeth Arden’s Good Nights Sleep Restoring Cream is a very hydrating cream available at a price that is reasonable, at least compared to other department store cosmetics counter offerings. 4 stars.
