The Bottom Line: The Eheim line of aquarium filters is by far the best on the market. This filter is truly phenomenal. It is the most efficient filter I have ever used.

First of all, I didn't buy the filter with the integrated heater. I bought the same exact filter without the integrated heater. Decomposition of ammonium - 73% faster, nitrite 67% faster. Exchange of oxygen and CO2 is accomplished by means of displacement through the specially designed breathing tube. The water output pulsates as the filter fills and empties, achieving a wave-like action. The Eheim filters are extra large capacity which only need to be cleaned every 3 to 4 months. Provides 22,000 sq.ft. of surface area. Within the filter, water movement is bi-directional, allowing, for extended time contact between bacteria colonies, oxygen, and the toxins to be decomposed. This gives the Eheim wet/dry filter a much quicker "waste break down time" than standard filters. Designed for tanks up to 160 gallons and pumps 145-277 gallons per hour. The 3 media containers hold up to 7.3 liters of media. Enhances biological, chemical, and mechanical filtration and returns oxygen-rich water to the tank. No holes to drill in the tank. No complicated plumbing. No risk of water overflow. Very solid construction and it operates virtually silently. These filters are made in Germany and are built to last a lifetime. In my opinion, this is the best filter one can buy. All I can say is the most important aspect of aquarium keeping, and the one you should be least willing to scrimp on, is the filtration system. Buy the best you can afford and you will not be disappointed. I found the best price by far at www.bigalsonline.com. After using a Magnum 350 for eight years and reading about the construction of a fluval, I wouldn't buy any other brand. I originally was going to buy a Fluval 404 at petsmart.com for $144.00. I found the same pump for $89.00 at bigalsonline.com. For just a little more money I got a pump which is by far superior to the fluval both in construction and efficiency. Petsmart.com wanted $329.00 for the Eheim. $129.00 more than at bigalsonline.com. My tank is crystal clear and the fish are healthy as can be. I did a lot of research before deciding on this pump. I don't think you will find a better one anywhere. Eheim makes professional pumps.
