slovendahl's Full Review: Dermalogica Clearing Skin Wash 16.9 Oz.
Dermalogica is a high end brand of skin care products that I first found out about through my mom. She swore on everything that it was the best of the best so I decided to give it a try. She told me I could buy some at a local spa so I went there and my mind was blown on how much money I was about to spend. For a 16.9 Oz. bottle of the Dermalogica Clearing Skin Wash I spent Forty-Seven dollars. But it was worth the price I thought because I trusted my moms enthusiasm about the product. The things that I look for in a face wash are lathering ability, moisturizing, ingredients that fight blemishes, cost and overall skin clearness after using the product. I will go into more detail in each of these areas reguarding my experience with Dermalogica Clearing Skin Wash.
Lathering Ability On the bottle it says to use a pea sized amount in the palm of your hand. Usually with face washes you need to use more than the recommended amount, this is not true with Dermalogica Clearing Skin Wash. A pea-sized amount is all you need and you are good to go. It lathers like a bar of soap and covers every square inch of your face. Many face washes make you feel like you are washing your face with a gel or sandpaper but with dermalogica it forms a nice bubbly lather that makes you feel like your face is getting super clean. Moisturizing Face washes are used to get rid of excess oil on the face and open up pores so that bacteria won't build up and create zits. Some face washes don't get rid of enough oil while others it feels like gets rid of more than just oil but all the moisture there could possibly be in your face. This would be Dermalogica Clearing Skin Wash. After washing your face with this face wash within minutes your face will look like a desert that hasn't had water in years. The cracks that you see in the dirt from lack of water in a dry desert, that is what you see on your face when looking in the mirror. When you smile it feels like your face is going to split apart and a dry burning sensation occurs. Face washes are supposed to get rid of excess oil on your face not all the moisture your skin contains. Ingredients in the face wash One of the main ingredients that you want to look for in a face wash that you are buying to help with blemishes is Salicylic Acid. This ingredient helps fight excess oil and blemishes. Well the main active ingredient in Dermalogica Clearing Skin Wash is Salicylic Acid. In a good face wash you want other ingredients to off set the salicylic Acid like some kind of moisturizing ingredient otherwise your face will turn into a desert. Since Salicylic Acid is the main ingredient in Dermalogica then that is mostly what your face is getting. It says on the bottle that it has tea tree oil amoung other calming oils but you would never know because of how dry your face gets. Cost When I look for a face wash I look for something thats not too cheap but not to expensive. The one and only reason I bought Dermalogica Clearing Skin wash was because of how highly my mom recommended it. For forty seven dollars I would expect never to get any blemishes ever. I still get them all the time. The only good thing is that a 16 Oz. bottle does last you a long time if you use the recommended amount. Overall Skin Clearness My overall skin clearness while using Dermalogica Clearing Skin Wash is the same as if I were to be using a bar of soap. I get blemishes on a regular basis, my face is always dried out and red from irritation. When I was using lower end face washes my face was the exact same as it is now.
So over all I would not recommend this product to anyone it is not worth the cost when you could just buy a cheaper brand and have the same skin. It dries your face out to where it is almost unbearable. Do not waste your money on this product or get your hopes up that it will help you have a clear face because i have been using it for almost a year and my skin hasn't gotten one bit better, at times it feels like its almost gotten worse.
