s-o-m-e-g-u-y's Full Review: Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP 24 inch LCD Monitor
The Dell 2408WFP is a great monitor, by any standards. It's got a large screen, measuring 24" from corner to corner, and an excellent resolution at 1920x1200. Unlike many other LCDs, it has a very good viewing angle, in that you can see it from almost any angle without losing any clarity. Really though, the biggest selling point of this panel should be it's excellent display quality. The image is clear, bright, and everything just looks amazing! Make sure you've got a more modern video card to run it though; if you think you're going to plug this monster of an LCD on to a cheap graphics card from five years ago, you might be in for a surprise. If you're a gamer, make sure that your current video card can handle running your games of choice at the seemingly outrageous 1920x1200 resolution!
Additionally, it has a boat load of inputs: HDMI, DVI, VGA, composite, component, S-video, and even the proposed HDMI/DVI replacement Displayport! It even has HDCP, so if you're viewing something high-definition, it won't downgrade the resolution of the video (look up the HDCP debacle, it's too long to get in to here). It also has a four-port USB hub, which I find extremely handy; the USB cable goes from the monitor to the PC, and you've got two USB ports on the side of the LCD (I use it for thumbdrives), and two underneath (I use those for my mouse and keyboard, to reduce clutter). It also has a card reader, that will read a whole host of cards, although I disabled those because I don't use it. There is also a handy speaker bar attachment that can be used in conjunction with this LCD; it snaps on the bottom via some hooks, and there is a short cable which attaches to the LCD itself for power. The quality of sound isn't so hot, but if you're using it at work then it's more than adequate.
All in all, the only reason I can think of not to buy this monitor is if you've got no room on your desk for it, or if you can't afford the outrageous pricetag. I got mine used on eBay, but the day to day pricetag from Dell is pretty high, even for my "have to have it!" standards. It's worth every penny though, especially if you spend all day staring at your screen like I do!
