I spent many hours of my young life learning to kill on the original Contra game. Almost killed my TV several times out of frustration. Was so disappointed when finally won and all there were were the credits and the "Defeated the Vile Red Falcon..." I wanted a metal or something. Great review, keep up the good work.

As do most of the Contras. The original Contra and Super Contra were like crack to me when I was a kid. It's entirely possible that games like these, in tendem with the original Doom, had profound psychological repercussions on my growth as an individual, teaching me that running around with a shotgun or a machine gun is a totally valid course of action when times get rough.
