Pros: Doesn't streak. Is very even and easy to apply. SPF 15 good for outdoors.
Cons: Price, but a tube lasts a long time. Smell.
The Bottom Line: Product is very easy to use, does not streak and looks really natural. A bit whiffy, as most are. Price not really an issue, as tube lasts a long time.

| kelpies's Full Review: Clarins Self Tanning Face Lotion |
After much agonising about looking irreversibly streaky or orange, or just plain 'fake tan', I recently dived into the self tan scene, mainly because of all the bad press the real thing gets and my dermatologist telling me in a matter-of-fact way about sun damage (you know all those nasty facial spider veins, well they're often wholly sun damage). I looked at a lot of reviews and decided that Clarins seemed the most likely. And yes, I'm really pleased. The latest Clarins self tan for the face still has the 15 SPF. Personally, I would rather have a tanner without the SPF, and apply one separately - one less chemical to inflict on your skin if you do not need it (say when you use this tanner, but stay indoors). It's more a creme than the previous milk, but very easy to apply. Is quite a mild colour, so you do not look like you have baked yourself silly. This suits me, but may be a little understated for others. It has a slight bronze tint for an instant tan whilst the self tan develops fully. There is a small amount of 'sparkly' ingredient (don't ask me which one that is...), but this is not at all obvious any further than 10 cm away! If you apply it thoroughly like a moisturiser, it certainly does not streak or blotch. I have very oily skin, but have not had any trouble with breakouts after using this product. Whilst it fades and needs re-applying every 4-5 days, it does not fade unevenly. As with all tanners, it does smell rather 'musty', like an unwashed furry mammal. The smell does change (doesn't get any better or less though) as it reacts with the skin. I wouldn't use the product before bed (I did once and phew, I had to change the bedding the next day) or if I planned an immediate intimate adventure etc! The packaging suggests a lot of information, but as it is in many languages, there is not a lot of advice. I suggest trawling the web, if you need further advice about application etc. I will continue buying this one, even though I have not tried any others.
