Pros: Reasonably priced calling plans, sound quality is very good (when you get through).
Cons: Sporadic service, dropped calls, poor customer service.
The Bottom Line: More Bars is the big advertising come-on for Cingular. If you must count on these bars for your profession throughout the calling area, this service is not for you.

| alecia.knupp's Full Review: Cingular Mobile Phone Service in Washington/Baltim... |
I live on the outskirts of what Cingular calls the Washington/Baltimore area. I have been a customer for several years and have not switched to another service as I believed Cingular was the best of a bad lot. After recent research I find that friends with other mobile services deal with less dropped calls, wider service area and better customer service. Cingular has been advertising "More Bars", but I have found their service to be worse than ever. Service is very sporadic in Frederick, Maryland especially on Route 70, which is THE major thoroughfare. Hagerstown, MD service fares no better. Both of the areas are on Cingulars coverage map. There are many other dead areas but are too numerous to mention on this review. Dropped calls are also a common occurrence and seem to be worse in the more highly populated areas. Don't even try to contact customer service via cell phone unless you have a couple of spare batteries hanging around. A recent call to customer service took 1 hour and 7 minutes (yes, I timed it). That was the third call after being hung up on twice by automated answering robot. This service is not for anyone who travels extensively through this calling area and depends on their cell phone to conduct business.
