Pros: Customer service reps have been nice, but ultimately unhelpful
Cons: Dropped calls, calls don't cause the phone to ring
The Bottom Line: Steer clear of Cingular if it is imperative that you get every call ... every time.

| Schneckky's Full Review: Cingular Mobile Phone Service in Raleigh/Durham/Ch... |
My husband and I decided to sign a contract with Cingular because we have a number of friends and family, both in the RDU area and in other states, who are also on Cingular. Because they offer free mobile-to-mobile calls, this was the most cost efficient choice.
Our friends/family all report the same issues with Cingular that we have experienced ... dropped calls, and their phones failing to ring when calls come in. Oftentimes, the only way to know if someone has called is when the caller leaves a voice mail ... The voice mail alert does seem to work.
Cingular has made a number of suggestions to solve the problem, but none have worked (insert a new simm card, reboot / turn off the phone daily, etc.) One sales critter even suggested that my mom buy a new phone because the problem was due to her phone being 'so old.' That didn't work out at all ... same problems, different phone, and a new two-year contract.
All in all, I would have to say stay away from Cingular based on my experience. I've been a customer for 2 years, and will be switching as soon as my husband's contract is up in September.
