Even the packaging was small!
This scanner is thin and lightweight but no lightweight when it comes to scanning. 1200 x 2400 dpi, excellent reproduction. Be warned though that it defaults to lower resolution which is fine for most applications. Set to a higher resolution will cause the scanner to slow down...as would be expected. Remember that higher res = larger file size also.
Canon has a winner with this scanner. It is the easiest I have used and installed. Almost foolproof but note that it does not run under Windows 95 and it only has a USB port (which means no external power source to clutter up the power bar). If you don't need the power of this scanner then opt for a lower priced one but at $300 Canadian this is the one that will suit your future needs. Home office, school, work, just ideal.
Canon's technical support is second to none, my installation problem was not caused by the scanner but the tech pinpointed the error in minutes.
