| Rosethyme's Full Review: Balance Bars>>4 Box Supply |
I have tried several types of sports bars before I found one I really liked. Some bars are $2.50 or more, have 350 calories, are sticky, and taste terrible.
One of the ones I tried was the Genisoy bar. I tried several, but did not like any of the flavors or textures. To me, the flavors are dry, flat, and the texture is unpleasantly chewy. Funny, I absolutely love the Genisoy protein powder. In fact, that’s what persuaded me to try their bars, but I went back to my other brand.
I've also tried several flavors of the PowerBars. The flavors are not bad but the bars are too sticky and are like chewing taffy. I feel like I will lose a dental filling just eating one of them, or if I touch something with my fingers, I will be stuck for the next hour before I can pry my fingers away. This is not what you want when you are working out. Also, because they are sticky, the wrapper is sometimes difficult to remove.
Balance Bars are great. I have tried several flavors and while not all of them are pleasing, they are pretty decent. My husband likes the chocolate flavor the best and I just love the almond brownie bar. The almond brownie bar tastes just like a brownie with nuts. The texture is a cross between a fudgy cake and brownie. YUMMY! I have one with a glass of milk for lunch and feel like I just indulged in decadent dessert.
The chocolate flavor has the same texture (but without the nuts) and comes with a chocolaty coating. Not the best in a hot environment, since the chocolate coating sometimes starts to melt. They come in foil-lined wrappers that are easy to open and remove.
There are 14 grams of soy protein in each bar and 200 calories. They are a satisfying nutritious snack or light meal. Great for workouts, a hike, or a light lunch.
As the name indicates, they are balanced. They have the recommended amounts of protein, fat and carbohydrates. They range in price from $0.99 to $1.49 each depending on where they are purchased.
They are a balanced snack, contain a reasonable amount of protein, are not too caloric, and are inexpensive. And they taste great! I like them.
