This summer we purchased an Intex Easy Set Pool, and I have been on a continuing quest to find the perfect lounge to enjoy the peace and quiet of our backyard pool. Okay, it’s a dream of mine to have peace and quiet, but it might happen one day! And when that day comes I intend to be prepared! So I’ve tried several lounges, most recently the Swimways Easy Spring Lounge, but after returning that one to the store my husband picked up a new and hopefully improved lounge made by Aqua Leisure.
The Aqua Leisure Ultimate Pool Lounge is a bright, colourful inflatable pool lounge. Comprised of several sections, this lounge inflates pretty quickly with a pump, and you’ll be ready to float in no time. The clear panels of this lounge combine with hot pink, purple, and a very nice teal blue/green colour, in keeping with the “fun in the sun” colours of most Aqua Leisure pool products. The lounge measures approximately 65” x 35” (deflated size) and is made of extra heavy duty 13 gauge vinyl (.33mm). It has two air chambers complete with heavy-duty valves and coil-beam construction. There is a back and headrest, as well as two arm supports that have built in beverage holder pockets. So you have a “chair” of sorts, with a small backrest, a head pillow, arm rests and a longer area for your legs. The leg section isn’t long enough to support all of your legs, unless you’re my eight-year-old daughter, but it is long enough to be comfortable. There is also a small rectangular area towards the end of the leg area and I’m assuming that’s in order to make getting onto this lounge easier. Heaven help me if its for any other purpose, and I really don’t know how I’d manage to get on this huge puppy without being able to step into that space and get myself seated. I’ve also found the drink holder sections to be a little small, but I haven’t tried forcing anything into them as of yet.
When the Aqua Leisure Ultimate Pool Lounge is completely inflated the seat area sits quite high off the water, approximately eight inches. I’ve found that it’s a little high for my liking. My preference is to be closer to, if not partially in, the water in order to keep myself cool and comfortable while floating in the pool. I’ve also found this lounge to be a little uncomfortable. It seems to be the perfect size for my daughter, but it’s awkward and a little hard to find the right reclining position for me. I often feel like I’m going to tip over backwards. I’ve also discovered that the Aqua Leisure Ultimate Pool Lounge is the perfect vehicle for anyone wanting to register themselves in the “Intex Easy Set Pool 500”, that is if there were such a Formula One racing event! We have very high winds here; yesterday they were gusting to 60km/h. When you’re floating eight inches above the water on the Aqua Leisure Ultimate Pool Lounge and a gust of wind like that blows by….you’re going going gone! Its amazing how fast you can move on a pool in this lounge, and when the wind swirls around you never know where you’re going to end up.
I do find the Aqua Leisure Ultimate Pool Lounge to be a durable lounge. It has withstood the rigors of many children and myself using it, as well as the excitement of my children attempting new water/speed records in it and hasn’t shown any sign of wear or air leakage. I just don’t find it particularly comfortable, and it really doesn’t suit my needs as something to help me keep cool in the water and still keep me floating and relaxing. But my kids do really love it, so I'll give it a recommendation for kids use. Now I just have to find a lounge that’s right for me. The quest continues!
