j_keller's Full Review: ATI RADEON, (32 MB) AGP Video Card
Let me start by stating that this card can be purchased for much less than $280, in fact I got it off buy.com for $180 and that was a few months ago. I do not doubt that it is much cheaper by now.
The Card
With that out of the way let me say this is a great card. I have not had a single stability problem while running this card (other than when trying to install the drivers, I'll talk about that in awhile).
Visual Quality
The visual quality this card produces is the best on the consumer market in my opinion. The card fits perfectly in the case and I have had no cooling problems. True, it does not run 200 FPS at 640x480 like the GeForce does, but who really cares if it runs it at more than 50 fps because you can't tell the difference. As far as the T&L goes I don't currently have a game which runs T&L but I'm sure the Radeon's performance is up to par.
The Problems
Now that I have listed the positive facts let me tell you my biggest complaint with this card: the drivers are inefficient and very unstable during installation. Using official ATI drivers it will take you more than 1 time to get the drivers to properly install, I know it took me no less than 3 before the install would actually work. Add to this the drivers are rarely released and when they are they having virtually nothing new in them and your in for a driver nightmare. However, do not let the worthless drivers scare you away.
I would buy this card any day over a comparable Geforce card. If your looking for a budget card that will get the job done and do it well the Radeon is for you.
