Pros: Kenwood delivers what it promises.
Cons: Designed more for home theater than home audio, e.g. functions.

| gwert's Full Review: Kenwood VR-507 5.1 Channels Receiver |
I'm a repeat Kenwood customer. This receiver is the centerpiece of a great system. I'm glad I waited for the DTS feature, although the THX receiver and better remote of the 509 would have been nice, I haven't missed them yet. I'm connected to JBL surround system that also is fantastic. I'm not sure the extra cost of the Bose system is really worth it. Turn the lights down and enjoy your favorite DVD!
On the downside, I do miss the easy sound controls of my old Kenwood 5030, e.g. the bass & treble. Plus the round multi controls take some getting used to. Like every leap in technology there are new complications for the user!
As for the remote, I believe this unit is virtually identical to the panasonic remote, and I believe it's an upgrade from previous versions and is quite friendly. You might prefer the LCD screen on the more expensive version, but the functions are identical.
Overall, this is a value system that delivers great sound.
