| grapeskittles's Full Review: Panasonic CQ-DF201U Car CD Player |
We have all seen those in-car CD players for 500 dollars. Now unless you spend 20 hours a day in your car, I really don't think you need to spend that much on a CD player and a radio. Enter: the Panasonic CQ-DF201U.
This is a very cheap, fully capable CD player and radio. I bought it on ebay for $120, compared to the $180 retail price. So, shop around before you buy.
If you are a person who would install it yourself, it is relatively simple. It has a mounting harness with little edges you bend to lock it in place. It also has a harness for the back which I could not get into my car. So, I had to install it differently.
But many people could just as easily take it in to get installed. Many electronics stores, such as Circuit City, and auto stores, such as Pep Boys, will install it for you.
This stereo has 2 preamp outs in the back, for all of you who like to blast out the system. I also hooked up some additional speakers to the system.
Go to www.crutchfield.com for all the specifications on this product, as well as checking to see if it fits your car.
Onto the player itself...
It is very simple to set up the time, store radio stations, and crank up the bass and treble. The instruction manual does a very good job at explaining.
The player looks very cool at night, it's all lit up. It has little animations for the speakers and level of sound.
The CD player is also very cool. You just pop open the faceplate (which is removeable for security purposes) and feed the player a CD. It graciously sucks it in. It automatically starts playing once you close the faceplate. Also, you CAN play CD-R's in this player. And I am happy to announce, this CD player has NEVER skipped. Not once, not even over the biggest bumps.
And now, to the coolest aspect of the player: THE Remote
The remote is about 2 inches long, an inch and a half wide and very thin, and it is by far the cutest thing on earth. Although, I admit it is somewhat pointless to use a remote.. the player is afterall right at your fingertips. But its soo much cooler to use a remote!
Overall, this is a great entry level player for people who don't need to spend $500 to sit in their car for 10 minutes and listen to music.
