Audible.com's subcriptions are a rip off by maplegirlie ,Jul 04 '09
The $14.95 subscription service has some pitfalls you should be aware of.
#1 - You'll be billed $14.95 per month for 1 credit, and when you go shop for an adio book, you'll notice that most of the items list for less than the $14.95 you paid! So, you're paying more than a non-subscriber! And you're paying more to get trapped in a service. See #2, below.
#2 - If you let your credits accumulate (say, perhaps because you don't want to pay more than the regular or member prices advertised with your $15 credit), you will lose said credits if you (a) accumulate more than 6 credits or (b) want to cancel your subscription. You'll lose ALL your credits if you just cancel. Nice.
#3 - If you use Mozilla's Firefox as your browser, expect to call their help desk to download your purchases. You have to use Internet Explorer for their service to work with iPod.
Just avoid the subscription. It truly is a rip off and a huge, frustrating waste of time.
