Stable Masters Tycoon 2 for Windows

Pros: In depth simulation. Good replay value.
Cons: Basic race sequence. UK rules only. 'Starters Orders' is a better game.

This game appears to be an update of Stable Masters 2001 as to be honest I had trouble spotting any differences between the two games. As with Stable Masters you get thousands of horses and plenty of associated trainers and jockeys. The realistic racing rules and race categories give a familiar feel to the game for us UK racing enthusiasts (the rules and terms may confuse US buyers). The race sequence if plain old basic 2d and lacks atmosphere but is adequate.

There are few decent racing games around. Horse racing manager is 3D and looks great but is unrealistic and a poor game in comparison. Starters Orders is the only other recent game to come to mind and is similar to Stable masters although does most things better and also has US options and racecourses.
